For the past four years in July, Chris Bigelow, a Security Officer with G4S Regulated Security Solutions, has challenged himself to climb the highest peak in the Northeastern United States — Mount Washington.
He does it for the physical challenge, to join fellow hiking aficionados and to support the legendary Mount Washington Observatory that sits atop the 6,288-foot summit. Over the past two years, Bigelow has reached out to family, friends and co-workers, raising more than $800 for the annual Seek the Peak hike-a-thon.
The G4S Match It! Program recently met his fundraising with an additional $500 that will support a variety of research and education programs at the nonprofit weather station.
The G4S Match it! program supports employee community service efforts and the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility commitment. The program encourages G4S employees to become involved in their local communities by matching the money they raise for a charity, up to $500.
Since its inception in 2013, the program has awarded more than $30,000 to bolster the fundraising efforts of G4S employees across North America.
