Every month, Monica Lewman-Garcia, Communications Director for G4S Secure Solutions North America, and her two children do odd jobs for friends and family. They donate the money they earn to Compassion International, a faith-based child advocacy charity that pairs donors with children who suffer from poverty around the world.
Throughout 2017, the Garcias raised $500 in support of a young child named Mafuru in Tanzania. The G4S Match It! program doubled that donation with an additional $500.
“I chose this charity because it is personal. Compassion’s core strategy for combating child poverty is one-to-one sponsorship,” Garcia said. “By learning about and corresponding with Mafuru, I believe I am giving my children a better understanding of the world and how we can make a positive impact.”
The G4S Match it! program supports employee community service efforts and the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility commitment. The program focuses corporate charitable giving on local community projects and good causes that are clearly supported by G4S employees, matching the money they raise for a charity up to $500. Since 2013, the G4S Americas Region has matched $34,000 of more than $93,000 raised by employees.
