On Saturday, May 19, the G4S Secure Solutions team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will don their walking shoes and athletic gear to participate in a 5K walk in support of the National Alliance on Mental Health’s (NAMI) local chapter.
After raising more than $500 for the event, Garan Chivinski, G4S HR Manager and NAMI Walk Team Captain, submitted a G4S Match It! application. G4S matched their fundraising with an additional $500.
NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
The G4S Milwaukee team’s commitment to NAMI has led to our recognition as the most responsible, engaged and creative security service provider in the market. No other security company in the area has shown such commitment to addressing mental health and its impact on public safety.
In 2017, G4S was named NAMI Greater Milwaukee’s Volunteer of the Year, and local office personnel have served on the walk’s organizing committee for the past two years.
“As security officers, we are often called upon to engage with the mentally ill. As professionals dedicated to public safety, we know that we must develop the skills and knowledge to defuse crises and protect our charges,” Chivinski said. “We must also remember that a person in mental health crisis is much more than just a threat or nuisance. They are also neighbors and family members, suffering from a terrible condition that they did not choose. Indeed, these people are often the most in need of our help, understanding and protection.”
The G4S Match it! Campaign supports employee community service efforts and the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility commitment. The campaign encourages G4S employees to become involved in their local community by matching the money they raise for a charity, up to $500.
Since the campaign launched in the America Region in 2013, G4S has contributed more than $36,000 to charities supported by our employees. Year-to-date in 2018, G4S has awarded $2,000 in matching funds based on employee efforts.
