FICO, Chamber Of Commerce Release Tool To Score Businesses On Cybersecurity – United States

Man in Suit

FICO and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce released a new tool Thursday to score how strong businesses’ protections are when it comes to cybersecurity. The tool, called the Assessment of Business Cybersecurity (ABC), uses an algorithm known as the FICO Cyber Risk Score to determine how secure a business or business sector is. The algorithm considers factors like the health of a company’s network infrastructure and the scope of their internet-exposed systems to reach a score, similar to a credit score. “Businesses are on the front line of cybersecurity threats. Their risk impacts our economy’s health and our national security,” Christopher D. Roberti, senior vice president for cyber intelligence and security policy for U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement. “That’s why we are pleased to partner with FICO to ensure businesses know their level of security. Organizations can obtain their Cyber Risk Score and use the ABC to measure their risk, know the risk of their sector, and take steps to improve their risk posture.”

How Many Active Shooter Drills Are Too Many? – Florida

Classroom

As Florida educators work to make schools less vulnerable to attack, a single line in state law is making that job more confusing. But it doesn’t specify how often. “Drills for active shooter and hostage situations shall be conducted at least as often as other emergency drills,” the law says, leaving the question open to interpretation. Schools for years have carried out different kinds of emergency drills with varying frequency. Which of those should be used as a template for active shooter drills? And are students being exposed to too many drills, or too few? It depends on where you live.

Trump, Xi To Meet Amid Trade War Tensions

The White House is moving ahead with plans for President Trump to sit down with China’s leader amid increasing tensions between the two countries over trade during a G-20 summit meeting next month in Argentina, according to a report Thursday. The Trump administration pushed by Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow has been in contact in recent days with Beijing to go ahead with the meeting with President Xi Jinping in Buenos Aires, the Wall Street Journal reported. In an interview on “Fox & Friends,” Trump said his slapping billions of dollars of tariffs on Chinese goods has forced them to try to make a deal. “They want to negotiate, they want to negotiate badly, but I told them, ‘You’re not ready yet. You’re not ready yet,’” he said Thursday. “I put $250 billion worth of taxes, or tariffs, on China and it’s had a big impact. If you look at their economy now, it’s a whole different ball game,” he continued.
